New Club Leadership

Dear members of Hamilton Chess Club and Academy, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to let you know that I will be stepping down from my role as president of the club and academy. Rest assured, the club will continue to thrive under the capable leadership of Derek Gwynn, Greg Godek, and Ashley Odit. They will be overseeing the management of club games, tournaments, and the academy, and will collaborate to ensure everything runs smoothly. Should you have any questions or need assistance, you can still reach out to us through the same email, Facebook page, or Instagram account. It has been a true pleasure leading the club for the past five years. I deeply appreciate the moments we’ve shared and I look forward to seeing the club continue to flourish under the new leadership. I hope you all continue to enjoy the club’s activities and camaraderie! All the best, Soroush Bagheri

Important CFC & Chess Club Membership Reminders

1 - Chess Federation of Canada (CFC): A valid CFC membership number is now required for participating in all CFC-rated games. As such, if this is your first time joining our club and you want to participate in our rated tournaments, please make sure that you have the six-digit CFC membership number. 2 - Hamilton Chess Club: The chess club membership is required for participating in rated tournaments (i.e. classical as well as junior/rapid) but not casual or unrated tournaments. As before, Canadian Japanese Cultural Center (CJCC) is required for all players regardless of the type or capacity of participation (e.g. chess classes, rated or unrated tournaments, or casual games).

CJCC and Club Membership Announcements

Hi all, I hope you are all doing well. We have some announcements about the club and the Canadian Japanese Cultural Centre (CJCC) membership fees that we would like to share with you all. Hamilton Chess Club Membership Announcements As of the next tournament, you no longer need to complete the $4 rating fee payment for every classical tournament (the tournaments that start at 8:00 PM until 11:00 PM). From now on, we will use the chess club membership fees to pay your rating fee for the CFC. The chess club membership fees are going to remain the same (i.e. $120/year, $60/six months or $3/night for adults; $80/year, $40/six months, or $2/night for children). CJCC Membership Announcements As of today, the CJCC has asked us that the membership payments need to be completed and pertain to the September of one year to August of the following year. This means that if a member joined us in, for instance, January 2024 and paid the membership fees at that time, their membership payment...
