Classes
Chess classes are currently only for children (under 18). Stay tuned for updates on offering classes for adults!
Chess classes are offered in 4 sections based on students skill levels: 2 sections on Fridays 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM and 2 sections on Fridays 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The style of teaching differs among sections based on the students' skill and age. The lower sections focus on how to move the pieces, using the clock, and basic fundamentals while the higher sections focus primarily on more advanced openings, middlegames and endgames. Each semester is 12 weeks long and the normal class size is 10-15 students per section. Each semester includes 9 classes and 3 five-round tournaments distributed evenly throughout the semester (i.e. one tournament after every 3 classes).
