CJCC and Club Membership Announcements
Hi all,
I hope you are all doing well. We have some announcements about the club and the Canadian Japanese Cultural Centre (CJCC) membership fees that we would like to share with you all.
Hamilton Chess Club Membership Announcements
As of the next tournament, you no longer need to complete the $4 rating fee payment for every classical tournament (the tournaments that start at 8:00 PM until 11:00 PM). From now on, we will use the chess club membership fees to pay your rating fee for the CFC. The chess club membership fees are going to remain the same (i.e. $120/year, $60/six months or $3/night for adults; $80/year, $40/six months, or $2/night for children).
CJCC Membership Announcements
As of today, the CJCC has asked us that the membership payments need to be completed and pertain to the September of one year to August of the following year. This means that if a member joined us in, for instance, January 2024 and paid the membership fees at that time, their membership payment would be for January 2024 to August 2024 and they would need to complete their payments again in August 2024; this payment would now be for a total of one year until August 2025. If a new club member joins in the summer (after June 1st), however, they can be granted a maximum of 3 months grace period, which means that their membership payment in the summer can be allocated to the following September to August cycle and cover a total of maximum 15 months. As a reminder, the CJCC membership fees are $30/year for individuals, $50/year for families and $20/year for seniors (above 65 years old).
How this affects the tournament participants: If a CJCC membership fee was completed on or after June 1st, 2024, your membership covers the entire yearly cycle (from September 2024 to August 2025); we will consider the period from June 1, 2024 to September 2024 as a grace period. All other participants of our tournaments (classical and junior/rapid) need to complete a CJCC membership payment in the August of this year (next month) to cover their CJCC membership fees from September 2024 to August 2025.
How this affects the chess class participants: If a CJCC membership fee was completed on or after April 1, 2024 for the Spring/Summer term, your membership covers the entire yearly cycle (from September 2024 to August of 2025); we will consider the period from April 1, 2024 to September 1, 2024 as a grace period. All other participants of our classes need to complete a CJCC membership payment in the August of this year (next month) to cover their CJCC membership fees from September 2024 to August 2025.
Benefits of CJCC membership: The CJCC membership is completed for insurance purposes and does not have any financial profit for the CJCC or our chess club. In addition, it allows each member to be able to participate in all events, classes and programs that take place in CJCC. If you have any questions or concerns, please do let me know by emailing us or messaging on Facebook. We do not wish to exclude anyone for financial reasons and we will be more than happy to accommodate every member's circumstances.
We thank you for your cooperation with us during these changes and appreciate your commitment to Hamilton Chess Club and Academy.
